The Management Board of JSC SAF Tehnika, with the approval of the company’s Supervisory Board, has decided to invest in and participate in the founding of “PLUFF” Ltd. The company will focus on manufacturing plastic injection molding products and providing milling services.
The planned factory will be particularly important for Latvia’s electronics manufacturers, as the country currently lacks sufficient capacity of producing plastic casings. Until now, such casings have primarily been purchased from China. However, the geopolitical situation, logistical risks, and the desire to strengthen local business have created a strong incentive to develop domestic production.
Commenting on the company’s involvement, SAF Tehnika CEO Normunds Bergs stated:
“Shortening supply chains, developing local engineering expertise, and establishing a manufacturing base in Latvia will not only help us create better products faster but will also be a significant contribution to strengthening the security of Latvia and the Baltics. What’s yours is yours – and reaching an agreement with your own is always faster and easier.”
Andrejs Zandbergs, Head of SAF Tehnika’s Mechanics and Prototyping Department, has been appointed as Director of “PLUFF” Ltd. He noted:
“The production facilities are already prepared, and by mid-August we will install the necessary equipment. We plan to start accepting our first orders at the beginning of September.”
The co-founders of “PLUFF” Ltd are SAF Tehnika JSC, Company NA Ltd., Erica Synth Ltd., HansaMatrix JSC and Latvian Electrical Engineering and Electronics Industry Association (LETERA).
According to the signed share capital agreement, AS SAF Tehnika will acquire 300 shares, representing 30% of the company’s share capital.
